Floor Preparation

Where the subfloor needs attention, we carry out appropriate preparation before installation. This can include levelling, plywood fitting and damp proof membrane work. Laminate fitting costs vary from property to property. A clear, rectangular bedroom is a different job from a hallway with several doorways or a room that needs substantial preparation. We quote for the work involved, so you know what you are paying for.

Supply and Fit or Fitting Only

Some customers come to us with the flooring already stacked in the spare room. Others know they want laminate but haven’t settled on a colour or finish. Either is fine.

If you need supply and fit, we can help you source flooring through our suppliers, including our partnership with FloorShack. We’ll discuss how the room is used and what needs to be ordered alongside the boards.

If you are buying elsewhere, it is worth speaking to us before placing the order. Room measurements alone don’t account for every cut, and an awkward layout can increase wastage. We can also discuss underlay, thresholds and edging before fitting day, rather than finding something is missing when work is due to start.

Laminate won’t put an uneven floor right. If the base moves or has high and low spots, the new flooring can feel unstable and put strain on the joints.

We check the subfloor and explain what needs doing. Some floors need little preparation. Others require levelling, repairs or plywood before they are ready.

Moisture needs attention as well. Where damp proofing is required, we can incorporate suitable membrane work into the preparation.
