Specialist Herringbone & Parquet Flooring Fitters

Parquet and herringbone flooring demand a high level of accuracy, from the initial setting out and subfloor preparation through to the final installation. Getting the pattern, alignment and finish right is essential to achieving the clean, premium look these flooring styles are known for.

Harris Flooring Services provides professional herringbone and parquet flooring installation across Newcastle and the wider North East, working with a range of materials and systems including engineered wood herringbone, solid wood parquet, LVT herringbone, SPC rigid-core herringbone and parquet click flooring.

We work on both residential and commercial flooring projects, tailoring the installation method to the flooring type, subfloor condition and requirements of the space. Where needed, we can also carry out the preparation work required before fitting to help ensure a stable, level and long-lasting finish.

Floor Preparation Services

The condition of the subfloor affects the appearance, stability and lifespan of almost every flooring installation. Before fitting the new floor, we can assess and prepare the existing surface using the most suitable method for the flooring system and property.

Screeding & Levelling

High-flow screeding can create a smooth, level and stable surface ready for the new flooring. Proper levelling helps improve the final finish, supports accurate installation and reduces the risk of problems caused by uneven subfloors.

Plywood Preparation

Plywood preparation can be an important part of creating a stable, even base before new flooring is installed, particularly over timber subfloors or areas where the existing surface needs strengthening or levelling. Harris Flooring Services can assess the condition of the subfloor and install suitable plywood where required to provide a cleaner, more consistent surface for the finished flooring. Correct plywood preparation can help improve stability, reduce movement and create a more suitable base for flooring such as LVT, vinyl, engineered wood and other fitted systems. Where necessary, this can be combined with additional floor preparation work such as levelling, screeding or damp proof membrane installation to ensure the subfloor is properly prepared before fitting begins.

Damp Proof Membrane

Where moisture is present within a subfloor, installing the correct damp proof membrane can be an important part of preparing the area before new flooring is fitted. Harris Flooring Services can assess the condition of the existing floor and install a suitable damp proof membrane where required, helping to create a more stable base for the flooring system above. Damp proof membranes are commonly used as part of the preparation process for engineered wood, LVT, vinyl and other flooring installations where moisture could otherwise affect the performance, adhesion or lifespan of the finished floor. We can incorporate this work alongside screeding, levelling and other subfloor preparation to help ensure the area is properly prepared before installation begins.

Existing Floor Removal

Before a new floor can be installed, the existing flooring often needs to be removed carefully and the subfloor underneath properly assessed. Harris Flooring Services provides existing floor removal as part of a complete flooring preparation and installation service across Newcastle and the wider North East. We can remove a range of existing floor coverings, including carpet, laminate, vinyl, LVT and timber flooring, before checking the condition of the surface below. Where necessary, we can then carry out further preparation such as levelling, screeding, plywood installation or damp proof membrane work to create a suitable base for the new flooring. By handling the removal, preparation and installation as one complete process, we can help make the project simpler while ensuring the new floor is fitted onto a clean, stable and properly prepared surface.
